A business owner is an artist. He creates something new, something alive and vibrant from the resources at his disposal.
My friend, Ghislain Danyod, brought this idea to my attention. He is in business himself with his company Fishu. His day job is to work at a company specializing in smoked salmon. He noticed that a resource was being wasted: the salmon skin. By processing the skin to make leather, he realized that there was a potential for building a business. He is an artist who is creating value from a neglected by-product.
Some creations by Fishu: bow ties made from salmon leather.
